The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn.

Not only has Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) escaped the shackles of the Suicide Squad to go wild in her own romp, she’s also split with the Joker, and isn’t taking the break-up with Mr. J particularly well. So Harley hits the town – and many of its denizens – and must now face the fact that without the protection of Joker, she’s a marked woman. Basically, she’s upset a lot of people in her time – primarily nightclub proprietor Roman Sionis, aka Black Mask (Ewan McGregor).

Harley takes young pickpocket Cassandra Cain (Ella Jay Basco) under her wing, and when you add cop Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez), the crossbow-wielding Helena Bertinelli (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), and a singer with a killer voice in Dinah Lance/Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell), you have the recipe for Birds of Prey – both the movie and the superheroine collective.

A rambunctious ride that’s loaded with inventive action scenes, abundant wit, a kick-butt soundtrack and a girl power explosion that would have the Spice Girls grinning from ear to ear, Birds of Prey is the most resolutely FUN comic book movie since Deadpool, and Robbie absolutely shines as the ratbag star of the show.
