4K October 2018 - Justice League Dark

It’s the Justice League, but not as we know it, in the latest DC Animated Movie Universe adventure. But how does this feature that’s anything but a Saturday morning cartoon fare on 4K Ultra HD? Is it super (man!), or would you have to be bats to pick it up?

The story: People the world over are seeing visions of other humans as demons, leading to deadly consequences. Fearing a supernatural enemy but initially skeptical, a certain event leads Batman to consult occult expert and demon hunter John Constantine, in order to form the Justice League Dark, a team of paranormal metahumans. Can this powerful collective put an end to this demonic scourge?

“Let’s take a walk on the dark side then.”

The 4K disc: If you’ve been following our DCAMU reviews then you’ll likely be more than familiar with their ongoing specs. Justice League Dark doesn’t mess with the formula, giving us an upscaled 2K picture with HDR bolstering, and a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 sound mix. Once again the HDR enhancement is the big reason to favour this release over the Blu-ray, adding some welcome oomph to the visuals. The sound has reasonable enough oomph for a 5.1 mix, too. While no special features appear on the 4K disc, there are plenty on the included Blu-ray.
