When you lose your way, magic always returns.

Michael Banks (Ben Wishaw) has recently lost his wife, and his children have grown up ridiculously fast in the process. Along with his sister, Jane (Emily Mortimer), the pair is only just getting by. Unbeknownst to Jane, Michael has taken out a substantial loan and when the debt collectors show up, it will take a miracle to help them.

Fortunately one descends in the shape of brolly-riding nanny Mary Poppins (Emily Blunt), who has barely aged a day since she last helped out the Banks as children. Anabel (Pixie Davies), Georgie (Joel Dawson) and John (Nathanael Saleh) don’t want the supervision of a nanny, but after some magical persuasion and the help of a friendly lamp lighter named Jack (Lin-Manuel Miranda), the kids surrender to their childhood all over again. Half a century may have passed since the original, but this belated sequel recaptures all the charm of the beloved classic.

Emily Blunt slips effortlessly into the role made iconic by Julie Andrews, and traditional hand-drawn animation combines with live action in the most delightful way. A wonderful follow-up that will enchant all ages.
