Set in modern-day London and directed by Joe Cornish (who gave us the brilliant Attack the Block), The Kid Who Would Be King puts a different spin on the Arthurian legend.
Dark times are ahead and humanity needs a saviour from the evil sorceress Morgana (Rebecca Ferguson), the half-sister of King Arthur. Enter young Alex (Louis Ashbourne Serkis – yes, Andy’s son) as the titular royal-in-waiting who drags the sword Excalibur from a stone – on a building site! Our would-be hero must then form his own round table and assemble a court of brave knights. The Kid Who Would Be King is a rollicking adventure in the tradition of genre classic The Goonies, with a healthy dose of early Harry Potter-like antics thrown into the cauldron, along with some subtle British humour.
