Paul Reiser and Sean Astin have signed on for the second season of the cult sci-fi TV series Stranger Things.

According to EW, Reiser – best known for the ‘90s sitcom Mad About You – will play Dr Owens, a senior government official tasked with cleaning up the events of the first season.

Meanwhile, Astin, whose credits include The Goonies and the Lord Of The Rings trilogy, has been cast as Bob Newby, a ”kind-hearted former nerd” and old classmate of Joyce (Winona Ryder) and Sheriff Hopper (David Harbour), who now runs the local RadioShack. The other new cast member revealed by EW is the largely unknown young Danish actress Linnea Berthelsen.

Netflix had previously announced that Australian actor Dacre Montgomery (below) – who will play the leader ranger in the big screen reboot of Power Rangers – and Sadie Sink will also be joining the show next year.
