Character actor Miguel Ferrer has died, aged 61, after losing his battle with cancer.

The son of late actor Jose Ferrer and singer Rosemary Clooney, Ferrer was best known for his brash and villainous roles in film and TV including the original RoboCop and Twin Peaks.

A familiar face on the screen over the last three decades, his other notable credits include NCIS: Los Angeles and Crossing Jordan, as well as appearing in the mini-series adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand and Steven Soderbergh’s Oscar-winning Traffic.

Ferrer reprised his role as FBI Agent Albert Rosenfield in the new series of Twin Peaks and will be seen in the first episode, which premieres May 2017.
