Warner Bros. brought the new Harry Potter spin-off to Hall H, but it was star Eddie Redmayne who provided the magic.
Set prior to the events of the Harry Potter films, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is a continuation of the franchise from a very slim book by J.K. Rowling, who also wrote the screenplay.
The film is set in Prohibition-era New York, where wizard Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) arrives with a case full of, well, fantastic beasts, which escape onto the streets and need to be recaptured. Yes, it’s Harry Potter meets Pokemon Go.
The new trailer has the look and feel of a Potter film, and also a HP veteran at the helm in director David Yates. But it will be interesting to see if it does the same kind of business, given it’s a period piece with an adult lead character.
Redmayne owned the panel at Comic-Con on the weekend, walking off the stage to distribute wands to every member of the audience (with the help of Warner staff) and then commanding them to cast a Lumos Maxima spell.
We managed to get some footage on the 360fly 360° camera, so you can experience the magic too. Drag or move your screen around to get the full 360° visual >>
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is released in November.
