A TV version of the cult classic Snowpiercer is in the pipeline, with US network TNT committing to a pilot.
Set in a frozen post-apocalyptic world, Bong Joon Ho’s 2013 masterful sci-fi chiller charts the bloody conflict that erupts between the occupants of a high tech train that is divided strictly on class lines.
The TV version of Snowpiercer is being developed by Josh Friedman (Avatar 4, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) and the executive producers include the original film’s director plus producer Tae-joon Park. The production house behind the show, Tomorrow Studios, is also working on a TV version of another cult favourite for TNT, Let the Right One In.
Sarah Aubrey, exec VP of original programming for TNT, says: “Snowpiercer has one of the most original concepts to hit the screen in the last decade, and it’s one that offers numerous opportunities for deeper exploration in a series format.”
