It’s STACK‘s Friday Flick time, where each week we’ll recommend a slice of classic movie viewing that’s sure to get your weekend off to a great start. This week, it’s Ant-Man.
Paul Rudd is perfectly cast as (allegedly) former petty criminal Scott Lang who, following a break-in at clever science bloke Hank Pym’s house, ends up becoming the titular, diminutive hero of our tale. Basically, his little role is to take on big business and stop them from perfecting their own little smallerising suit.
Ant-Man is the 12th entry in the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe, and possibly the best of them all to entertain the entire family. It’s also based on a character that until the MCU came along was scarcely known out of Marvel super-fan circles. But then, Iron Man fell into that category once…
Four reasons why Ant-Man rocks:
1. Thomas the Tank Engine’s cameo – guaranteed giggles from anybody under the age of about nine (and from anybody above that age who’s still in touch with their inner kid).
2. Michael Peña hamming it up wonderfully as Luis.
3. Michael Douglas in a superhero flick.
4. Young Abby Ryder Fortson as Lang’s daughter Cassie, the cute kid who’s actually cute – and not annoying.
