It’s STACK‘s Friday Flick time, where each week we’ll recommend a slice of classic movie viewing that’s sure to get your weekend off to a great start. This week, it’s Back to the Future.
What better flick to get you in the mood for absolutely anything than BTTF?
Perhaps over-simplified, it’s the tale of a boy and his Doc, the former of whom ends up travelling back in time and has to ensure that his parents get together so that he continues to exist. Brilliant!
Written and directed by Robert Zemeckis, who only really had 1941 and Used Cars on his movie-penning CV before this, Back to the Future was the perfect storm of comedy, action, adventure and casting, that remains surprisingly timeless (pun not intended, for once) today. It’s also another one of those where lines tend to have crept into the everyday vernacular of many. Heavy!
Four reasons why Back to the Future rocks:
1. Building a time machine… out of a DeLorean.
2. Michael J Fox and Christopher Lloyd, both perfectly cast (sorry Eric Stoltz).
3. Marty treating the high school kids to a bit of future rock ‘n’ roll guitar style.
4. The Power of Love – by far the best song that Huey Lewis and the News ever released.
