It’s STACK‘s Friday Flick time, where each week we’ll recommend a slice of classic movie viewing that’s sure to get your weekend off to a great start. This week, it’s Crank.
Some people like depth and realism in their action films. Crank completely dispenses with all that nonsense for an utterly ludicrous, non-stop action-fest that may be as dumb as all get out, but it’s also insanely enjoyable.
Jason Statham is ex-hitman Chev Chelios. His former employers have injected him with something that inhibits his internal flow of adrenaline, meaning that if he slows down, he carks it. So, he employs all sorts of means to keep the adrenaline flowing – and we mean all sorts of means – to save his girl, find an antidote and, of course, exact revenge.
Four reasons why Crank rocks:
1. Jason Statham doing what he does best – action and quipping.
2. That fab little hospital gown that Chev dons.
3. The manic editing.
4. It’s one of the most gloriously, proudly insane action flicks of all time.
