It’s STACK‘s Friday Flick time, where each week we’ll recommend a slice of classic movie viewing that’s sure to get your weekend off to a great start. This week, it’s Ford v Ferrari.
Ford v Ferrari focuses on two key participants in the rise of Ford as a 1960s motor racing success story – Carroll Shelby (Matt Damon), a former racing driver turned car developer, and British driver Ken Miles (Christian Bale), who’s now running a car workshop in the US.
Given a car based on the British Lola Mk6 to work with, the pair construct and hone what will become known as the Ford GT40 into a genuine Le Mans contender. But the road to glory is fraught with bumps… If you go into Ford v Ferrari expecting a lot of exhilarating racing footage then you’ll be pleased, but the movie is much more than just that. It’s the sort of human underdog story that will appeal to even the least petrol-headed of viewers.
Four reasons why Ford v Ferrari rocks:
1. The stunning classic race cars.
2. The incredible sound (check it out in Dolby Atmos if you can).
3. “We’re lighter, we’re faster, and if that don’t work, we’re nastier.”
4. Top performances from Bale AND Damon.
