It’s STACK‘s Friday Flick time, where each week we’ll recommend a slice of classic movie viewing that’s sure to get your weekend off to a great start. This week, it’s Ghostbusters.
Boned from their cushy university parapsychology tenures, three doctors get entrepreneurial (try saying that even one time fast) and form a company that’s prepared to deal with Manhattan’s paranormal occurences. They’re just in time, too, for when a cellist finds strange things afoot in her fridge, the gates of hell are about to be opened upon the unsuspecting city. Who ya gonna call?
We feel like it’s almost superfluous raving on about how good Ghostbusters is. The lead trio of Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis are all in top comedic form, the classic lines hit quicker than a lawsuit from Huey Lewis (who sued Ray Parker Jr for ripping off I Want a New Drug for the Ghostbusters theme) and family members of any age will find heaps to enjoy – luckily a couple of rather risque gags go way over their heads.
Four reasons why Ghostbusters rocks
1. The odd decent scare squeezed in-between the funny-fest.
2. Bill Murray’s cavalcade of killer lines – our fave? “Back off man, I’m a scientist.”
3. The unveiling of the awesome Bustermobile Ecto-1 – and that godawful screech that it emits.
4. The theme song! (Sorry, Huey).
