It’s STACK‘s Friday Flick time, where each week we’ll recommend a slice of top movie viewing that’s sure to get your weekend off to a great start. This week, it’s Groundhog Day.
Harold Ramis and Bill Murray worked together a lot, either onscreen or off, and gave us a raft of classic comedies. Arguably the best – and in saying that we argue with ourselves when the likes of Caddyshack, Stripes and Ghostbusters are all in there – was Groundhog Day.
Read it how you want, from Buddhist allegory to just a really funny romcom, this tale of one man living the same day over and over – and how he learned to use it to his advantage – is a bona fide classic. Its name even went into pretty much everyone’s vernacular for describing a feeling that things are repeating. Bing!
Four reasons why Groundhog Day rocks:
1. Bill Murray at his Bill Murray-est.
2. Watching good Phil gradually take over from bad Phil.
3. Ned Ryerson.
4. “It’s Groundhog Day!”
