It’s STACK‘s Friday Flick time, where each week we’ll recommend a slice of classic movie viewing that’s sure to get your weekend off to a great start. This week, it’s Paddington 2.
A sequel, eh? To a kid’s movie, eh? You bet your sweet jar of marmalade it is, and it betters the first film – which was no slouch – in every way possible. In fact, the action-packed Paddington 2 may be the most perfect family film ever made.
It revolves around Paddington Bear wishing to get the perfect present for his Aunt Lucy’s 100th birthday. He finds it, only for it to be stolen – and worse, for him to be nicked for the crime! Can his adopted family the Browns – and all whom he’s helped out in Windsor Gardens – prove his innocence? Or will a nefarious thief get away with framing a sweet-natured, lovable bear?
Four reasons why Paddington 2 rocks:
1. Hugh Grant’s gleefully sensational turn gnawing on every bit of the scenery as the villain of the piece (even he’s said of Paddington 2, “I genuinely believe it may be the best film I’ve ever been in.”)
2. It’s a film that skates the super-fine line between sickly and sweet perfectly.
3. The one and only Sally Hawkins.
4. The feels!
