It’s STACK‘s Friday Flick time, where each week we’ll recommend a slice of classic movie viewing that’s sure to get your weekend off to a great start. This week, it’s Shaun of the Dead.
If you’ve not had the pleasure, the titular Shaun (Simon Pegg) trudges through life as an electrical goods salesman, oblivious as those around him gradually succumb to a zombie virus. When the penny finally drops, he leads a motley bunch in a quest for simple survival – and a bloody good pint.
Shaun of the Dead was the introduction to the “zomromcom” for most, and it remains one of the funniest horror flicks of all time. Uh, and one of the funniest romcoms of all time. Then there’s the fact that it’s an ace buddy flick. Shaun of the Dead is lots of things, and all of them great. It’s also the first in the “Cornetto trilogy” from Edgar Wright, which went on to give us the very cool Hot Fuzz and The World’s End.
Four reasons why Shaun of the Dead rocks
1. The dream sequence, erm, sequence.
2. Being selective about which records to frisbee at the undead.
3. “You’ve got red on you.”
4. The entire Queen Don’t Stop Me Now pub fight scene.
