It’s STACK‘s Friday Flick time, where each week we’ll recommend a slice of classic movie viewing that’s sure to get your weekend off to a great start. This week, it’s Team America: World Police.
We need to offend everybody that we possibly can, while making a cool action flick with puppets. We’re gonna need a Matt and Trey! The pair behind the equal opportunity offending South Park delivered either a gem of a politically-sussed, satirical comedy or a totally unfunny celluloid turd, depending upon your point of view (and, possibly, nationality).
Giving more than the odd wink and nod to Gerry Anderson’s classic Thunderbirds, Team America: World Police tells of an American paramilitary police force – that’d be the mob name-dropped in the title – and their recruitment of a Broadway actor to help them save the world, as terrorists and liberal Hollywood actors have been recruited in a certain dictator’s bid for global destruction.
Four reasons why Team America: World Police rocks:
1. Puppet sex.
2. The lonely dictator.
3. We’re gonna need a montage!
4. America – f-ck yeah!
