It’s STACK‘s Friday Flick time, where each week we’ll recommend a slice of classic movie viewing that’s sure to get your weekend off to a great start. This week, it’s The Big Lebowski.
The Coen brothers have given us several cult classics, from Miller’s Crossing and Fargo to The Hudsucker Proxy, No Country for Old Men and beyond. But no other Coen brothers film features Jeff Bridges as The Dude.
It’s the story of a man and his rug, basically, combined with a whole lot of mistaken identity. It’s about love, loss, lines, bowling, severed toes, nihilism and tying the room together. It’s also about fabulous casting, like John Goodman, Steve Buscemi, Julianne Moore, Philip Seymour Hoffman, John Turturro, Peter Stormare, David Thewlis, Sam Elliot and, of course, Tara Reid.
Four reasons why The Big Lebowski rocks:
1. The Dude, abiding.
2. Walter going ballistic.
3. Donny being Donny.
4. The Dude’s wild music video trip to Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In) – which was sung by Kenny Rogers, no less.
