It’s STACK‘s Friday Flick time, where each week we’ll recommend a slice of classic movie viewing that’s sure to get your weekend off to a great start. This week, it’s The Fast and the Furious.
It’s the action-drenched street racer movie that spawned a massive franchise – one which still promises much more to come. The series also provides a good chunk of escapism if you’re looking for something with which to get your binge on.
This introduction to the Fast and Furious universe introduces us to Brian (Paul Walker), a street racer with a green car who wants in on the local action. The ringleader of said action is Dom (Vin Diesel), who has pretty much all the cars (in several colours). They race for slips, Brian loses, Dom plays tough guy, then Dom gradually mellows after being rescued from arrest by Bri and lets him into his crew. Little does Dom know, however, that Brian is an undercover cop. Ah, but where do his loyalties ultimately lie?
Four reasons why The Fast and the Furious rocks:
1. Dom’s Dodge Charger.
2. The racing action.
3. “I live my life a quarter mile at a time. Nothing else matters – not the mortgage, not the store, not my team and all their bullsh-t. For those ten seconds or less, I’m free.”
