The 7th Annual AACTA Awards will be telecast on Wednesday night, December 6, with Garth Davis’s Lion expected to be victorious as the pride of Australian film for 2017.

Lion leads the pack with 12 nominations including Best Film, with Blue Murder: Killer Cop and Top of the Lake: China Girl the shows to beat in the television categories, with 11 nominations each.

Other nominees for Best Film are Berlin Syndrome, Hounds of Love, Ali’s Wedding and Jasper Jones, and for the first time in AFI/AACTA history there are five nominees for the Best TV Drama Series category – Cleverman, Glitch, Wentworth, Top of the Lake: China Girl, and Janet King: Playing Advantage.
