Following the success of The Invisible Man, another classic monster from the Universal Studios vault will be resurrected…

“Even a man who is pure in heart and says his prayers by night may become a wolf when the wolfbane blooms and the autumn moon is bright”. That man is Ryan Gosling, who’s poised to get all hairy and scary in an all-new version of the 1941 classic The Wolf Man, following in the paw-prints of the legendary Lon Chaney Jr. and Benicio del Toro, the latter having played the character in the 2010 remake The Wolfman. The update is scripted by Orange is the New Black screenwriters Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo and is currently on the prowl for a director.

The Wolf Man is one of several monster movies being developed by Universal – the current slate includes Karyn Kusama’s Dracula, Paul Feig’s Dark Army, Dexter Fletcher’s Renfield, and Elizabeth Banks’ The Invisible Woman.

Before he starts howling at the moon, Gosling will be heading back into space in Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s forthcoming astronaut thriller Project Hail Mary.
