The BBC has commissioned a third season of the BAFTA Award-winning comedy Detectorists.

Written, directed by and starring Mackenzie Crook (The Office), the acclaimed comedy will follow the lives of two metal detecting enthusiasts Andy (Crook) and Lance (Toby Jones).

The third series follows on from the 2015 Christmas special which saw Lance battling ‘gold fever’ while Andy and his long-suffering wife Becky (Rachael Stirling) embarked on an African adventure.

“After a year away I decided I missed my friends in Danebury so much that I had to go back to the world of Detectorists one more time to see what Andy and Lance could dig up,” Crook says. “The prospect of filming another summer in the beautiful English countryside is a good one.”

Shooting will get underway over the UK Summer, with transmission following later in the year.
