Veteran comedian Don Rickles has died, aged 90.

Famous for his barbed insults, the outspoken comic rose to prominence in the 1960s following an unforgettable appearance on Johnny Carson’s The Tonight Show.

Championed by the likes of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin, the “insult comic” made numerous TV appearances, including guests spots on comedy series Get Smart and I Dream of Jeannie as well as The Don Rickles Show in 1972.

A staple of the 1960’s ‘beach party’ movie cycle, Rickles’ most notable film work was voicing Mr. Potato Head in the Toy Story franchise. He also had memorable supporting roles in John Landis’s 1992 vampire film Innocent Blood and Martin Scorsese’s Casino (1995).
