Here’s a really interesting video on Arrival‘s adaptation to the screen.
I’ll be straight up here – Lessons From the Screenplay is my favourite YouTube channel. I found his stuff through a video he did titled The Dark Knight – Creating The Ultimate Antagonist, and I’ve been sucked into everything else he puts up as a result. The channel does a great job of analysing screenplays and the ways films are made, and quite frankly it was an interest of mine that I didn’t know I had until I started watching.
Arrival is one of the best films to hit DVD this year (so far) – if you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend checking it out, especially if you’re at all into sci-fi, Amy Adams, or Jeremy Renner.
It’s an adaptation of Story of Your Life by Ted Chiang, and as you can see in the clip below received quite a few tweaks to make it appropriate for the screen.
Anyway, if any of what I’ve said has piqued your interest, you can check out the full 13 minutes below, and don’t forget to subscribe to his channel if you’re into that kinda thing.
