With Mario Kart 8 Deluxe out on the Switch on Friday, we take a look at some of our favourite tracks – omitting Rainbow Road for obvious reasons.
Mario Circuit 1 (SNES)
Mario Kart wouldn’t be the same without Mario Circuit. The very first track on the first game in the franchise holds a special place in the hearts of many – ourselves included.
Bowser Castle 1 (SNES)
The Bowser Castle circuits are notorious for death – namely by falling in lava or getting sat on by a Thwomp.
Moo Moo Meadows (Wii)
If you didn’t play the Wii version of Mario Kart, there was a track (that also made its way to MK8) called Moo Moo Meadows, that was basically a farm with a bunch of cows hanging around. It was a pasture of fun.
Ghost Valley 3 (SNES)
The Ghost Valley tracks were up there with some of the more annoying of their kind in the Mario Kart series. With edges calling out to you to fall victim to and too many holes to count, Lakitu was a close friend to many on these tracks – the third one especially.
