The latest entry in the Sniper Ghost Warrior series, Contracts, is set to change up the action with a bunch of improvements to the familiar formula. Asim Tanvir, the senior community manager at CI Games, gives us more of an idea what to expect.
What do you think is the greatest new thing for players to look forward to from this latest iteration of Sniper Ghost Warrior?
The obvious one would be the new Dynamic Reticle System, bringing to the fore our mantra of delivering the ultimate sniping experience. With every shot you’ll have to take distance, wind, height and bullet drop into account. It’s a great balance of realism and fun. You have to make each sniper rifle shot count, adding a nice layer of tension to the gameplay.
Additionally, the sandbox nature of our five large maps and the dynamic nature of the gameplay. You pick your routes and play how you want. This has us very excited to see what routes players take, and how they go about completing contracts.
Can you please tell us more about how the contracts system plays out?
Sure. There are 25 contracts spread across the five big maps we have. The majority task you with taking down a human target, whereas others include hacking equipment, freeing a prisoner and retrieving some top-secret data. In terms of how they play out, each map will have a different number (ranging between four to six) and it’s up to you how you go about completing them. The maps are quite large, so you’ll have to plan how you go about doing them for sure. Even with planning though, given the dynamic nature of the gameplay, you might have to plan on the fly, shall we say.
Can you please tell us more about the new ‘dismemberment’ play addition? Or is it fairly self-explanatory…? 😉
Ha! It’s pretty self-explanatory. If you’ve played classics like Soldier of Fortune, you’ll have a good idea about how our dismemberment system will work. It’s something that the fans wanted and we’re so happy we managed to get it in.
What’s your personal favourite way of taking out an enemy in-game?
Without a doubt, a long-range headshot with a sniper rifle. Incredibly satisfying. That said, the stealth takedowns are fun too, especially when you plan ahead, and it all works out just as you expected.
Does your team do much monitoring of social media and general feedback to get ideas for possible improvements in each new instalment of the series?
Every single day. We look at each tweet, Facebook comment, Steam forum post and more. The opinions and feedback of our fans are hugely important to us. In fact, a lot of what they’ve said after Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 has helped shape what we’ll release with Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts.
