Gee, we kind of blew all the key info in the headline. Yes, an animated take on Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed game universe is in development.

Producer Adi Shankar, who’s also involved with the animated Castlevania series that’s in development, has been recruited to oversee the project. He has an interesting action pedigree, which includes movies such as Machine Gun Preacher, The Grey, 2012’s awesome Dredd and Lone Survivor.

Shankar excitedly took to Facebook to announce his involvement.

“I’m happy to let you guys know that I’ve selected my next project! I played the first edition of Assassin’s Creed the year I moved to Los Angeles to pursue my dream. At that moment I knew absolutely no one in the industry and could never have imagined that one day Ubisoft would ask me to take the world of Assassin’s Creed and create an original story set in it as an anime series. If anyone tells you not to follow your passion in life they are wrong.”

Assassin's Creed

The Assassin’s Creed movie certainly divided opinion, so it will be interesting to see how this planned anime take on the incredible time-travelling universe plays out.
