After a tennis game for your PS4 or Xbox One? Then the forthcoming AO Tennis may be just what you’re looking for.
While our minds wildly wander with the possibilities for an adults-only tennis, the ‘AO’ refers, of course, to the Australian Open.
AO Tennis has been developed by Aussie sports game specialists Big Ant, and is a Tennis Australia officially licenced affair. This means real names, real stats, real venues – even real commentators!
Designed as more than just another tennis game, AO Tennis also celebrates the long history of the Australian Open.
There’s also a focus on making the players as close to their real life counterparts in play style as possible, rather than just ramping attributes on the greats to make them harder to beat.
“With previous tennis games, the world number one would be challenging to beat, because his or her in-game attributes would be set to merely make fewer errors. That worked well at the time, but we’ve taken things to the next level,” Big Ant CEO Ross Symons says. “In AO Tennis, Rafael Nadal is the hardest player to beat because in game he plays like his real-life counterpart – he plays a game style befitting the number one player in the world.”
Tennis Australia are excited about this opportunity.
“Every day we are constantly looking for ways to enable our fans to engage more deeply and more often in the Australian Open, and having the opportunity to play AO Tennis fully immerses them in this incredible event,” Tennis Australia CEO and Australian Open Tournament Director Craig Tiley says. “We wanted to ensure this is the most authentic tennis video game ever created, so that our fans can not only have a great AO experience, but a great tennis video game experience. On top of all of that, they get a tennis experience from the couch which we hope leads them on to the court.”
AO Tennis launches just in time for the Australian Open, on January 16, 2018.
