The focus of the Assassins heads back to Ancient Greece in this year’s Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

Appropriately bringing the epic, it was the showstopper at this year’s Ubisoft E3 conference.

Whether you choose to play as Spartans Kassandra or Alexios, this journey to the birthplace of Western civilisation will take in all the fighting that we know and love from the series, from one-on-one scuffles to massive 300-adversary battles and beyond to classic naval battles in the Mediterranean. Your principal weapon is a spear that will be incredibly customisable, with a choice of abilities in stealth, ranged combat or melee combat.

A new addition to the series is dialogue trees, so while you won’t be changing historical facts, you’ll still be able to go off on your own tangents for your personal game experience.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is set to land for PS4, Xbox One and PC on October 5.

Here’s an extended look at some of the gameplay to whet your appetite.
