The next episode of the long-running Assassin’s Creed series of games will take place during the age of the Vikings.
The announcement was made during a livestream that featured Aussie graphic artist Bosslogic, who came up with a piece of art to accompany the reveal:
This one comes from the Ubisoft team that gave us Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and Assassin’s Creed Origins, and is slated for release on PS5, Xbox Series X, PS4 and Xbox One this “holiday” season (so, most likely just in time for Christmas).
Set in an open world, players will live the saga of Eivor, “a fierce Viking raider raised on tales of battle and glory”. Eivor will be playable as either male or female, with a bunch of customisations promised.
“We can’t wait for players to experience the incredible Viking journey ahead of them,” said Ashraf Ismail, the game’s creative director. “Being in Eivor’s boots as both a Viking raider and a clan leader, players will face the conflicts of establishing a new home while in the midst of a power struggle for control of England.”
