2K is taking a new direction with its upcoming release of NBA 2K22.

The approach will see new music being incrementally added throughout Seasons. Called First Friday, on the first Friday of each month of Seasons, a selection of new artists will complement the existing line-up, keeping the music roster fresh.

And alongside Aitch, Freddie Gibbs, Megan Thee Stallion and Saweetie, Australia’s own hip-hop duo A.B. Original is set to feature on the game’s soundtrack. Formed in 2015, A.B. Original consists of rapper Adam Briggs and producer Daniel Rankine (aka Trials), and the pair scored an ARIA for the excellent album, Reclaim Australia, released in 2017.

In addition to First Fridays, NBA 2K22 will also introduce Producer Series, bringing creativity to the community through a mode that will allow players to rap over beats and showcase their talent.

“Basketball and music are so intertwined and have become an integral part of our game,” said Alfie Brody, Vice President of Global Marketing for NBA 2K. “NBA 2K has become a global platform for music discovery and that continues with NBA 2K22. This year, we are creating a dynamic soundtrack, complete with early access to unreleased tracks, new artists, and opportunities for fans to become part of the experience and solidify their place in video game history.”
