Blizzard are creating their own esports arena – Blizzard Arena Los Angeles.

The arena is situated in the famous Burbank Studios, and has been tailored to present a one-of-a-kind live esports experience for fans and players alike.

“We’re at a tipping point for esports and we look forward to helping usher in a new era of competition-based entertainment,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO/cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment in a press release. “As we open the doors of Blizzard Arena Los Angeles and welcome fans from around the world, we’re honoured to bring the best in Blizzard esports to the same stage that some of the biggest names in entertainment have called home.”

The facility will be state-of-the-art, with multiple sound stages, control room, and even practise facilities. Arguably the best part is that it’ll have its own merch store, with a rotating catalogue depending on what’s being shown.

The new arena will open its doors for the first time to the public October 7 and 8 for the Overwatch Contenders Season One Playoffs, and the Hearthstone Summer Championship begins the following week.

This is a huge step for esports, and we can’t wait to see the crowds that are turning up at these events. I hope they have themed food, too.
