The relaunch of Lucasfilm Games has just been announced, with the ‘BAM!’ of a new Indiana Jones game. Now they’re following up with news of a new Star Wars project.
Set to come from Sweden’s Massive Entertainment, who previously gave us the Tom Clancy’s The Division games, what’s currently simply known as The Star Wars Project is set to be a new story-driven open-world adventure.
“The vast Star Wars lore is an incredible source of inspiration for our teams,” said Yves Guillemot, co-founder and CEO of Ubisoft. “This is the beginning of a long-term collaboration with Disney and Lucasfilm Games, and we are pleased to be working hand-in-hand to build upon the incredible legacy of Lucasfilm to create a game that we know Star Wars fans will love.”
Meanwhile, Massive’s Julian Gerighty says, “This is a lore that we love, and we want to do it justice with a game and story that bring both lifelong and new fans on an immersive and outstanding journey that will stay with them for years.”
With the last two Star Wars games from EA – Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Star Wars: Squadrons – going down well with gamers, the pressure is on for Ubisoft to deliver the goods. We can’t wait to find out more.
