Team Deathmatch and free-for-all are headed to Overwatch‘s Arcade mode soon.
Game director Jeff Kaplan has announced that Overwatch will be getting a long-awaited Deathmatch mode.
For those who don’t know, Deathmatch’s goal is basically to just get as many kills as possible, which is why many thought it may never come to Blizzard’s FPS as the game is so objective-driven.
The Team Deathmatch mode will pit you 6v6 against one another on some modified pre-existing maps. Kaplan noted that there will be some interesting twists; for example, Mercy’s Ultimate resurrection actually takes the kills off the other team. It’s play to 30 deaths.
The individual free-for-all mode on the other hand will throw you in against seven other players, and the first person to get to 20 kills wins. For those concerned about how this will affect your Arcade wins, you only need to finish in the top 50 per cent (top 4) to get the game to count towards a win.
There’s no confirmed release date for Deathmatch on the Arcade yet, so keep an eye out.
