11-11: Memories Retold sees Elijah Wood giving voice to a young Canadian photographer who ends up at the Western Front in WWI. Wood speaks of the role and the game’s not-a-shooter story in this interview.
A collaboration between Wallace and Gromit creators Aardman and France’s DigixArt, the first thing that strikes you about the game’s visuals are just how stunning they are, delivering an almost watercolour-like vibe. But behind these incredible visuals lies a tale of the reality and humanity of war.
While Wood plays a young man named Harry, Sebastian Koch (Bridge of Spies) gives voice to Kurt, a pacifist on the other side of the war who’s driven by duty. Through these characters, players will explore two sides of the “Great War” via various painting-like scenes, all of which have been inspired by true events.
11-11: Memories Retold is due for release on November 9 for PS4 and Xbox One.
