As if Bethesda’s The Evil Within 2 wasn’t creepy enough, it has now had a first-person mode sticky-taped in via a free update.
It adds a whole new dimension to the gruesome goings-on of the psychological survival horror/thriller, and is sure to breathe new life (and death) into it for those who’ve completed it in third-person view.
“A lot of players like playing horror games in first-person, so for those who want to see some of the game’s situations through Sebastian’s eyes, it’s a really neat experience,” said producer, Shinsaku Ohara. “I think exploring Union in first-person makes the scale feel even bigger than it does when you’re in third-person. Also, being able to see our environments and enemies up close allows players to get an even better look at how much effort went into their designs.”
Playing on PS4? If your console is anything like ours it may need some prompting to download the update, simply by pressing the ‘Options’ button and selecting ‘Check for updates’. It’s supposed to happen automagically, however…
Here’s a small taste of The Evil Within 2 in first-person. Warning: Icky, grisly and macabre scenes await within.
