Epic Games’ behemoth Fortnite has officially been announced for the Melbourne Esports Open.
Announced last week, Fortnite will be making its way to the MEO in many forms. First of all, there will be a dedicated Fortnite stage at Margaret Court Arena, with games being broadcast both online and in front of a live audience. Attendees will have the chance to compete against content creators on stage, with games running for eight hours on both this Saturday and Sunday. We know Loserfruit, Bazza Gazza and Crayator will be in attendance – perhaps you’ll get the chance to ride the Battle Bus with them?
There will also be a Fortnite Free-Play Field located within the JB Hi-Fi Game On Zone, with 20 consoles set up for attendees to have a crack at the game away from onlookers before perhaps trying it on the big stage.
Finally, on both days there will be a dance competition at Margaret Court Arena that will allow attendees to compete with their best Fortnite dance impressions to win prizes. Take Lofu’s examples here:
“We are very excited to announce that we will be showcasing Fortnite across both days of the Melbourne Esports Open on a dedicated stage in Margaret Court Arena” said Tim McGregor, Managing Director TEG Live, in a recent press release. “For us, this was the final piece of the puzzle in making MEO 2018 a truly epic event for Australian gaming fans of all ages.”
The Melbourne Esports Open will take place September 1 and 2 at Melbourne Park. There’s still time to get your tickets – use code JBHIFI for a discount!
