A “Director’s Cut” of the magnificent Ghost of Tsushima is coming, bringing the world of Jin Sakai to PS5, and adding a whole new island to explore in Iki.

The expansion will be available for PS4 and PS5 players, and as well as the new content it will deliver a raft of tweaks and updates to improve the already superb experience (can you tell that we kind of really love this game?) All content since release will also be packed in.

Currently all that developers Sucker Punch are letting on about Iki is that it will be an entirely new story that introduces new characters, and will pack in “tons” of new content. This is set to include new environments, new armour for both Jin and his trusty horse, new mini-games, new techniques, new enemy types and even new animals to pet.

As for PS5 exclusive features, there’ll be Japanese lip sync, made possible thanks to the PS5’s ability to render cinematics in real time. Haptic feedback and adaptive triggers also come into play for all parts of the game, as well as enhancements to 3D audio and “drastically” improved load times (impressive when it was no slouch on the PS4), plus 4K resolution options and framerates targeting 60 FPS.

Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut launches August 20 on both PS5 and PS4, with upgrade paths available for those who already own the game – and the ability to carry forth any progress made on PS4 to PS5. Here‘s our review of the original release.
