All across the country, JB Hi-Fi has all manner of talented folk in their midst, like Morris Umali at JB The Galeries in Sydney.

A 13-year veteran at JB and this month’s Roving Reporter, Morris, the store’s resident games co-ordinator, has been playing games since 1986. He even has Animal Crossing and Grim Fandango – his favourite game of all time tattoos!

But aside from being a gaming aficionado, he possesses another impressive skill set: the ability to create awesome weaponry. Yes, inspired by the characters he controls on the screen, Morris fashions his own custom weapons and has produced some incredible examples for various store displays.

His latest is the awe-inspiring Buster Sword from the much-anticipated Final Fantasy VII Remake, which is available now and keeping isolated gamers happy the length and breadth of Australia. It’s a whopping 172 cm long, and weighs in at around 3kg. We think you can agree, it’s an impressive blade.

Morris also created a wicked World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth display, as well as a stunning God of War Leviathan Axe, too – that lit up!

Cool guy that he is, Morris doesn’t want to claim all the credit for these creations. “I just want to make it clear that I find the designs online for free. I don’t 3D model them myself. But I print and assemble them.”

Gaze upon some of Morris’ fabulous work just below, and if you wish to know more about this master craftsman, check out this month’s Roving Reporter here.
