Nintendo have held another one of their Nintendo Direct online data drops, and there were some genuinely exciting new announcements.
We’re amidst the 35th anniversary year of Zelda, so new announcements have been hoped for, but with Nintendo you should never expect. Thankfully, however, they’ve delved into their past and plucked out Skyward Sword for the remastering treatment.
The Wii classic is set to emerge as The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD on July 16 (Pre-order now at JB Hi-Fi). They’ll be joined by a lovely pair of themed, royal blue Joy-Cons (pre-order here.) As for Breath of the Wild II, we’re promised more info later in 2021…
It’s time to go from Link to the links, as Mario and friends return to the golf course in Mario Golf: Super Rush. It’s set to deliver everything from a fairly straight golf game through to a range of wild, Mushroom Kingdom-infused experiences from June 25. Pre-order now at JB Hi-Fi.
Looking to 2022, we received our first tease for Splatoon 3, which appears to be bringing quite the Fallout type post-apocalyptic aesthetic to proceedings.
In other news, Pyra and Mythra from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 are the latest to join in the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate action, coming in March.
A follow-up to Octopath Traveler was also unveiled, under the working title of Project Triangle Strategy.
Meanwhile, 3DS title Miitopia is coming to Switch in May (pre-order now at JB), while Mario items are coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons later this month.
No More Heroes 3 has finally been dated – yay! – and we should expect it on August 27. Keen beans can pre-order now at JB Hi-Fi.
Some other titles wending their way Switch-wards include Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout, Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection, Outer Wilds, Samurai Warriors 5, a Legend of Mana remaster, Tales from the Borderlands, Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighbourville, SaGa Frontier Remastered and a feature-packed physical version of one of the most loved games of 2020, Hades, on March 19 (pre-order now at JB).
It’s time to start saving!
