While many of us stop dead in our tracks to drool over the newly announced SNES-themed 3DS XL (picture above), there’s cool new stuff for Splatoon 2 and ARMS fans too – plus an incoming Pokkén Tournament DX playable demo.
The funky 3DS XL was previously a Japan-only release, with Super Famicom badging. Great news, however, is that we’re getting one too – the exhaustingly officially named New Nintendo 3DS XL – Super Nintendo Entertainment System Edition is to be released on October 14.
Switching to Switch news, there’s new and free content coming to Splatoon 2. Manta Maria will join the line-up of Turf War and Ranked Battle maps this Saturday, while the Bubble Blower special weapon – available first in a set with the Forge Splattershot Pro – can be test-driven from Saturday September 2. Meanwhile, a new Salmon Run stage called ‘Lost Outpost’ will be available today.
Popping over to Switch fighting game ARMS, a new character will be added to the roster in the next free update. She’s clown fighter Lola Pop, whose key ability is inflating her body like a balloon, providing her with great defensive qualities. Find out more about her in this helpful little video…
If you haven’t had a look at ARMS as yet, you can try it for free this weekend with another ARMS Global Testpunch, starting this Saturday, August 26, at 1am AEST and running through until 6am AEST on Monday, August 28. Just download the free ARMS Global Testpunch software from the Nintendo eShop on your Switch and get fighting!
In other news from Gamescom, the demo of Pokkén Tournament DX for Switch that we mentioned above will be coming to Nintendo eShop tomorrow (August 24).
