Want to play video games and help science out at the same time? Now’s your chance, with Borderlands Science.

A new and totally free addition to Borderlands 3, which you’ll find in Doc Tannis’ infirmary on Sanctuary III, it’s a new way to earn unique in-game rewards while also helping advance medical research.

The sciencematific part involves mapping the human gut microbiome thanks to a bunch of poo samples, which luckily players don’t need to get anywhere near. We just need to play a match-the-colours puzzle game. Phew!

Here’s a handy little video that explains it all, hosted by Mayim Bialik, who, depending upon your age, you’ll either know as Blossom or Amy Farrah Fowler from The Big Bang Theory. As well as being an actress, she’s also a super-brainy PHD scientist.
