In brilliant news for survival horror fans, Resident Evil Village – or VIllage if you’re a marketing person – has been given a release date of May 7.

That was just one bit of great news for fans of the enduring franchise that dropped during a special Resident Evil Showcase.

Originally expected to be a new-gen only release, it was confirmed that Resident Evil Village will also be available for PS4 and Xbox One. A demo is slated for future release on all formats, but in the interim a standalone playable peek at the Castle Dimitrescu area of the game, entitled Maiden, is available now exclusively on PS5. Grab it right here.

Also revealed was the multiplayer experience Resident Evil Re:Verse, which celebrates this year’s 25th anniversary of the Resident Evil franchise. Described as a thank you to the fans, it features comic-styled visuals and will be free for anybody who grabs Resident Evil Village.

You can pre-order Resident Evil Village now at JB Hi-Fi.
