After being one of the worst kept secrets in gaming, Nintendo have finally announced the upcoming launch of the cute little SNES Mini.

Officially named the Nintendo Classic Mini: Super Nintendo Entertainment System, it features three more games than that verbose title features syllables.

Umm, so that would be 21 games in all.

Some we expected, some are surprises, many we’d hoped for are missing (no PilotWings lovin’?!). Here’s a list of those that are included…

  • Contra III: The Alien Wars
  • Donkey Kong Country
  • EarthBound
  • Final Fantasy III
  • F-ZERO
  • Kirby Super Star
  • Kirby’s Dream Course
  • The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
  • Mega Man X
  • Secret of Mana
  • Star Fox
  • Star Fox 2
  • Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting
  • Super Castlevania IV
  • Super Ghouls ’n Ghosts
  • Super Mario Kart
  • Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
  • Super Mario World
  • Super Metroid
  • Super Punch-Out!!
  • Yoshi’s Island

SNES MiniEagle-eyed types will notice Star Fox 2. This was actually never officially released, so Nintendo completists may need to pick up one of these beauties when they release on September 30. The SNES Mini will retail for $119.95, including two controllers (but no power supply, only a USB cable – power packs will be sold separately).

If the NES Mini sales were anything to go by, you’ll want to get in early. Stay tuned to JB Hi-FI’s site for pre-order details.
