A new free update arrives today for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, including a spot of somnambulism.
Yes, your islander will now be able to take naps, and may drift off to a dreamland where they’ll encounter the mysterious Luna. She’ll allow sleepy visitation of other islands, as well as sharing your home with other dreamers. It’s kind of like a sleepy Airbnb, we guess, but anything that you do in your dreams isn’t permanent.
Another big thing in this update is fireworks. Whee! Every Sunday night in August there’ll be a firework show at 7pm. We’ll also be able to spend those precious bells on raffle tickets to score a bunch of festive stuff. Best of all, the fireworks will be customisable.
On the more technical side, a much called for feature is finally arriving in the island backup and restoration service. Nintendo Switch Online members just need to enable it, and if their Switch happens to disappear in some way then they “may” be able to restore all of their hard work via contacting Nintendo consumer support. We wish they’d had this a couple of weeks ago when we had to replace ours… grumble, grumble.
Meanwhile, a function to move users and save data to another system is finally planned for later this year, with details to come.
If the above isn’t cool enough, there’s also another update due in spring.
