Our latest look at the state of play with the PS5 has just gone down, revealing a couple of surprises and what we’ve all been waiting for, a date!

November 12 is when Australia will get our hands on the PS5, both in disc-based and digital-only forms. We join North America, Japan and South Korea in getting it a whole week before the rest of the world. Sucks to be them!

Australian pricing will be $749.95 and $599.95 respectively. Pre-order NOW at JB Hi-Fi to reserve yours.

Now, let’s zoom back to the start, and the games on show.

First up, a disclaimer that what we’re about to see is “PC emulation of the PS5 experience”… It’s from Square Enix, and as hoped it’s an over the top and fiery introduction to Final Fantasy XVI – which will be a PS5 console exclusive.

Ah, this is better, everything from now on is shown natively on PS5. And we kick off with one that has many of us excited, Spider-Man: Miles Morales from Insomniac. Set one year after the first game, we’re treated to some exciting in-game footage of an extended bridge battle.

Next up, it’s time to go back in time to the Hogwarts of the late 1800s, and become a student in Hogwarts Legacy, which is due in 2021.

If you’ve been craving a look at next-gen Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War then this chunk of frenetic campaign footage should impress. It’s due before year’s end. If you’re a PS4 player you can get a taste of multiplayer via an alpha launching this weekend. Oh, this clip needs one of those LANGUAGE WARNING things.

It’s time for Capcom, and time for the much-anticipated horror experience of Resident Evil: VIIlage – another one that’s coming in 2021.

If Quentin Tarantino and Guy Ritchie collaborated on a game, they’d possibly come up with something like Deathloop. Full of ’70s exploitation flick stylings, the latest trailer for this time repeat FPS introduces us to some of the characters in the Bethesda game. It’s due in Q2 2021, and will be a PS5 console exclusive.

Time for a little more Capcom next, and Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition. All the slash ’em up action will hit at launch.

Next in line, Oddworld: Soulstorm. Yes, Abe is back and his world just got bigger, badder, bolder and possibly some more adjectives that we missed while flipping between screens.

Eep! It’s Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach

One that has the hardcore excited is Demon’s Souls, and we’re treated to some gameplay footage – and some wild boss fights – from the legendary third-person slasher.

Alright! Fortnite is set to be available on PS5 at launch.

Finally, after a look at the PlayStation Plus Collection, a new benefit for PS5 that will see PS4 classics including God of War, Bloodborne, Fallout 4, Mortal Kombat X, Days Gone, Until Dawn, Detroit Become Human, Infamous: Second Son, Batman Arkham Knight, The Last Guardian, The Last of Us, Persona 5 and more accessible on PS5 at launch, a tease. Santa Monica Studio… “Ragnarok is coming… 2021” – it looks like we’re in for some new God of War, people. BAM!
