Things just wouldn’t be right if basketballing great Michael Jordan didn’t grace the cover of NBA 2K23 with his legendary number 23, so luckily it’s happening.

He’ll be heading up a special edition release of this year’s game, the NBA 2K23 Michael Jordan Edition.

Says 2K marketing guy Alfie Brody: “After making 23 the most recognisable number in sports, it was only fitting that for NBA 2K23 we introduce the Michael Jordan Edition, as no other player embodies the word ‘champion’ like Jordan. We look forward to celebrating this game with the community when it’s released on September 9.”

Great news is that with the return of Michael Jordan to the cover, the game will also be bringing back The Jordan Challenge, wherein players are challenged to recreate 15 iconic moments from the man’s career. That’s the classic ten from NBA 2K11, plus five new iconic Jordan moments.

While this is Jordan’s fourth outing as an NBA 2K cover star, Phoenix Suns NBA all-star Devin Booker makes his debut on the standard editions.

“I’ve been a huge NBA 2K fan since I was a kid, and it’s surreal to finally join the exclusive club of basketball greats who’ve been cover athletes,” said Booker. “I’m also honoured to share this year’s covers with the iconic Michael Jordan, who changed the game for all players who came after him.”

NBA 2K23 launches for PS5, Xbox and PS4 on September 9. Pre-order now at JB Hi-Fi.
