Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 movie RoboCop was a sci-fi action movie milestone, and has been the subject of a couple of games. Now there’s another one on its way.

RoboCop: Rogue City has been announced, taking Murphy from side-scrolling shooter in the 1980s and ’90s to first-person shooter in the 21st century, with – judging by the gameplay reveal trailer – plenty of nods to the movie.

Here’s the official story: “Welcome to Detroit; crime runs rampant as the city lies on the edge of ruin, people fighting for scraps as others live extravagant lives of luxury. Control of the Detroit Police Department is given to the Omni Consumer Products corporation in an attempt to restore order. You are that solution, RoboCop, a cyborg tasked with protecting the city.”

If all of this isn’t good enough news, the man who was RoboCop, actor Peter Weller, is returning to give voice to his legendary role once again for this game outing.

RoboCop: Rogue City is currently slated to come to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch and PC in June 2023.
