PAX Day #2 – Level cleared.

After the first day madness, it was time to get down to the nitty gritty of it all.

For the first time this PAX we had some spare time to stretch out our fingers and get our game on. Whilst it was not for the longest time we got to play a small part of the stunning indie game Wildfire. The side-scrolling game where you can manipulate the elements is based loosely on Abe’s Oddysee and was quite hilarious in an…interesting way, considering some of that humour stems from trapping people with fire and inevitably setting them on said fire.

Experience points were gained from the CrowdFunding 101 panel that featured some crowdfunding veterans full of tips. Their combined wisdom taught us to be open to failure and to view it as a beginning, not the end of your idea. They also made it very clear that when pitching a game, you must ‘sell your passion’ as they look for that foremost.

Panel of the day went to the hilarious panel line up on Why is 7/10 A Bad Score? It was Good Game‘s host Nich Richardson’s joking comment that if he rated games from their release trailer he’d give No Man’s Sky a 10/10 that left the room in hysterics.

During small breaks, steam was let off at the Jackbox Stage. Not only were the players enjoying Tee K.O., where they create some very odd shirts from their own drawings and slogans – but it had fantastic audience participation as over 30 people watching got to vote for the winners on their phone. One slogan in particular was a crowd favourite with the phrase “You can do it. I guess. I don’t know, I’m a shirt.”

Once again to finish up the day we were graced with a day-in-the-life-of-DYoshiiTV video to sum up the experience.

Get some rest and charge your batteries, because we will be coming for PAX day #3 with guns blazing.
