What: Bose Sleepbuds II
Why: This is the second generation of Bose’s sleep buds and with that comes a whole heap of tweaks to ensure that they stay right where they need to all night long. To cater for different sized ears, the super comfortable Sleepbuds II come with three interchangeable tips and a charging/travel case. These are sweatproof for those hot Queensland summers and will hold ten hours of battery charge for those extra-long lay-ins. The Bose Sleep app is the place to go for your relaxation content to block out unwanted noise or to calm a busy mind. And alarms, call customisation and notification alerts can all be set from the app.
Who: If you have trouble drifting off or staying asleep, the Bose Sleepbuds II are certainly an option to consider – you won’t even know you’re wearing them.
What: Chromecast with Google TV
Why: The big change is the implementation of Google TV with Chromecast, so instead of finding all of the content via a smartphone, it’s all displayed on your TV on one handy UI. What’s even better is the Chromecast supports 4K resolution, HDR and even Dolby Atmos. Installation is a breeze: download the Google Home app, plug in the unit to a free HDMI port on the back of your TV and you’re away. The included remote will help you negotiate the UI and there’s a Google Assistant button that will enable you to ask for recommendations directly. Alternatively, Google will suggest shows for you.
Who: There’s broad appeal here for anyone who wants all their favourite streaming shows in one easily accessible spot at the touch of a button.
What: Lenovo Legion 5i Gaming Laptop
Why: In terms of value for money, Lenovo trade exceptionally well in this demographic and that extends to the Legion 5i, a gaming laptop that features a stylish design that doesn’t scream gamer. Eschewing an RGB disco for a subtle white backlight, the build quality for this budget laptop with a 15.6-inch 144Hz display is exceptional. The Legion 5i features a 1080p HD screen, a comfortable TrueStrike keyboard, support for Wi-Fi 6, fast refresh rates and an anti-glare display to counter brightly-lit rooms, plus an overall performance that belies its price tag.
Who: If you’re on the hunt for a quality gaming laptop but don’t want to drop big dollars, the Lenovo Legion 5i is the budget option to consider that doesn’t compromise on performance.
What: Samsung Premiere Projectors
Why: The biggest development in TV technology in recent years is the ever increasing size of the screen, but even that has limitations. In 2020, improving the home entertainment space has become a priority for many of us, and now you can bring the ultimate cinema experience into your house with Samsung’s new ultra short throw 4K laser projectors. There are two models: the LSP 7T that goes up to 120 inches, and the LSP 9T that maxes out at 130 inches. The LSP 7T has a built-in 20 watt 2.2 channel audio system, while the LSP 9T has a 40 watt 4.2 channel system and also supports HDR10+. Both projectors feature Samsung’s excellent Filmmaker Mode.
Who: This really is everything any budding film buff could wish for – a true cinema experience without the clowns checking their smartphones and rustling sweet wrappers behind you for the duration of the movie.
